TIGHTTIGHT FITFIT
The sharp hiss of a Red Bull can cracking open was a familiar sound.
Staying caffeinated was the only way I could stay awake while trying to put my two little boys, Kailan, five, and Sonny, two, to bed.
‘Go to sleep, boys,’ I whispered, before taking a swig.
Getting them to keep their eyes closed was a military operation.
I’d tried everything.
Relaxing music, singing and even giving them massages.
Nothing worked.
It was always a two-hour ordeal.
By the time they finally nodded off, it was midnight and I was jittery with caffeine.
Sleeping was impossible, and so I slumped on the sofa and scoffed down junk food before I evenutally turned in, too.
Just a few hours later, I’d be cracking open another Red Bull instead of making myself breakfast.
