Deep in the rugged countryside of North Wales, in the foothills of the Berwyn Mountains, lies Rhug Estate, a palatial 19th-century house set in 12,000 acres of farmland. “We have wonderful views,” its owner Robert, the 8th Baron Newborough, tells us, looking out over undulating hills, pasture and woodland dotted with grazing animals. “We have an abundance of wildlife at this time of year and masses of wild flowers.
