WALLY WHY 200 TOWARD THE NAVETTA OF THE FUTURE

In one of superyacht’s seasonal editions we talked about the recent revolution occurring in that niche bit of market represented by the so called navette, The layouts have always featured generous interior spaces on displacing hullswhich translate into great comfort with low running costs. Recently over the past few years this niche market has evolved and has expanded to comprise new elements and small variations on the same theme. So in spite of the navetta’s typical features the yard tried to go beyond some of the restrictions connected to some of the features mentioned, and first of all there’s a notable increase in speed which goes beyond the dogma of purely displacing hull forms for the navetta. It also looks different and is typically very sea worthy with few frills alone and the least that can be said is that it has evolved and is currently evolving to becoming a yacht which recalls a house, a villa in a seaside resort with large glass panels and sliding doors, plenty of open spaces but protected ones just as a porch of a house. The sight of them today can trigger off a remark or two for example: how far has the classic navetta gone in comparison to the ones in the past!

The navetta has kept its seakeeping qualities, affordable running costs, comfort all round in any weather like earlier models with addition of greater performance in terms of speed and greater usability of external spaces.

And the new navette are fast becoming an expanding market segment which brings back designers and shipyards that are ready to promote their own personal interpretations on the current theme most of all the ones
