An age of miracles
YOUR article ‘Mother Dear… remember me in your prayer’ () reminded me of my own great-grandfather’s postcard home. Captured at Quessy and witness to several of his pals being killed, he writes: ‘It’s a miracle I’m alive.’ Rifleman Valentine Peaty () survived being held as a prisoner of war and went on to become a senior civil servant, being awarded an MBE in 1966 for his services.
