Stop ticks from ruining your holiday

We can all agree the summers of 2020 and 2021 (so far) have been very different to previous years. So it’s no wonder that the combination of COVID-19, various degrees of lockdown rules and travel restrictions has meant the demand for staycations has rocketed. And, while the UK has wonderful beaches, it also has lots of glorious forests and countryside to explore – and with them come ticks, which means doctors have been seeing patients with the classic Lyme disease rash.

Lyme disease is an infectious illness caused by the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi, which is passed to humans via tick bites. It’s is more commonly found in Scotland and southern England
