VW Camper & Bus

WORLD’S BEST DELUXE

On paper, the Bus that Billy started with wouldn’t be the best candidate for a perfect stock restoration. It was discovered in Vermont, which isn’t exactly the warmest or driest place in the USA. In fact, it makes the UK climate look balmy, to say the least; Vermont has a humid continental climate, which means warm and muggy summers and cold, snowy winters – the ideal climate for rust to take hold of metal. When it was discovered back in 2004 by a serial Bus hunter, it was parked in the snowy driveway of the elderly owner, where it’d been sitting for many years – many cars rot away to nothing in such a scenario.

The thing that potentially saved the Bus from certain death in the snowy wilderness is that it was parked up on a trailer, which had rusted badly into a precarious state. It was a bit of a nightmare
