Our motorhome

2016 AUTO-TRAIL TRIBUTE T-670

There have been three ’vans in our motorhome history: two panel vans and a coachbuilt. During our time with the coachbuilt we missed the wide opening side door and the opening rear doors to bring the outside in. In the coachbuilt (a Majestic 125) there was just one small caravan-style door in the living space and we soon felt claustrophobic and shut in. We also missed the airiness, look and manoeuvrability of panel vans.

During an autumn ‘just browsing’ trip to our dealer’s end-of-season sale, we exchanged our coachbuilt for a campervan. It was just over a year old and only had 6,000 miles on the clock. It looked brand-new and had the added benefit that the previous owners had already fitted an awning and bike rack. We fell for the lovely silver-grey exterior with complimentary yellow and black decals and, of course, the large side-opening and rear doors.

THE PERFECT LAYOUT FOR US

Years of touring in our previous ’vans had given us a good idea of the layout we wanted and of the compromises we’d have to make to achieve this in a sub-six metre ’van.

We had to have a front dinette serving as a lounge
