Cannon Camping Park, East Sussex
In 1066, Guillaume de Normandie landed his army on the pebble beaches around Pevensey Bay, East Sussex. Nigh on a thousand years later, and Cannon Camping is situated on those landing grounds.
Located on the A259, four miles east of Eastbourne, on the outskirts of Pevensey Bay village, payment in cash is required on arrival. It may be the only time you see the owner, and the remainder of your stay is at your own behest. Pick a grass pitch, with electric if required, and enjoy your stay.
You’ll probably add on extra nights to those originally planned. The reason: there is such a host of things to see and do in the vicinity, and you’ ll also find yourself happily sitting enjoying a sunny afternoon or three on site outside the ’van.
Whether walking, cycling or using public transport, you are well served. Footpaths lead directly from the site to Pevensey (with its wonderful castle) and Westham, around a mile inland, from where the coastal train route runs to quaint Lewes and cosmopolitan Brighton westbound, and Hastings and Rye to the east.
