Axmouth Camping Site, East Devon
East Devon, now roped in with west Dorset to form the Jurassic Coast, is a beautiful area. Lovely weather is accompanied by a lovely, warm welcome at Axmouth Camping Site.
The relatively unregimented grassy pitches, with hook-up if required, all give views over the River Axe and the Seaton Wetlands, where a veritable phalanx of water birds call home... and what’s that clanking along in the background? It’s a tram! This bizarre sight is the three-mile-long Seaton Tramway, built on a former railway, whose terminus is a pleasant one-mile walk, bicycle or bus ride away in Seaton, and runs up to Colyton.
The South West Coast Path running east and west can be accessed adjacent to the pleasant Axmouth Harbour. East takes you along the cliffs to wonderful Lyme Regis around six miles away, while westbound brings you over Beer Head to Beer, perhaps the nicest village on this coast, around two miles from Seaton.
