“My life is transformed”

HANGING MY head with shame, I awaited the inevitable telling-off. Diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus (Type 1) when I was 18, the clinic doctor always reprimanded me. I was overweight and had high blood pressure and high cholesterol, putting me at risk of a heart attack or a stroke.

I hated those appointments. It felt like I was back at school being told off by a teacher. I knew it was all my own fault. I was stuck in a rut and getting out seemed impossible.
