RESTAURANTS
BOBO’S BRASSERIE
Mouille Point, Cape Town
“Bobo” is a slang word for “hipster” in French, however, this is no earthy hangout for bearded bikers wearing overpriced second hand clothing. It is a sophisticated and beautifully designed restaurant that lets in light from everywhere, so you can enjoy the seascape, whilst creating an old-world feeling of elegance with its décor. Lush floral wallpaper, buttoned leather banquettes, open fireplace, bookshelves, velvet chairs, all that.
On windy days the doorman insists he open the door for you every time and on sunny days the floor-to-ceiling windows are thrown open. The service is beyond exceptional and among the best you can experience in Cape Town.
Diners can expect classically French inspired feature dishes, seasonal specials, and a choice of Chef’s plates from a changing menu. For starters you are spoilt for choice but they offer fine oysters, escargot, and dry aged beef tartare with capers. If you get there and their Bouillabaisse is on the menu, it is a definite must; Chef Amber-May Deetlefs outdid herself there. The chocolate fondant is addictive. Perfect for sundowners in the lounge or the patio that can turn into a French champagne dinner!
1 Two Oceans Beach, Beach Road, Mouille Point, Cape Town. Open Monday to Sunday and public holidays from 12h00 to 22h30.

HELL'S KITCHEN
Melville, Johannesburg
A bit of suburban biker-chic with good-looking, edgy interior and a patio from where you can watch the goings on in Melville. This is the coolest place to hang out with friends in Melville and get hammered.
The menu is tight, but everything is really great, especially the burgers and beer-battered hake.
Pick your poison from the well-stocked bar. The craft beer list is extensive, and the cocktails are sublime. Now, sit back, relax and enjoy.
Shop 4, 7th Street, Melville, Johannesburg.
Open from Monday to Sunday 11h00 to 23h00.

1854 RESTAURANT
Greyton, Western Cape
Pricing in smaller towns is often a lot more affordable than big city restaurants and with produce that’s as fresh, if not fresher, and mostly sourced from local farms. The food at 1854 is wholesome, delicious and well-priced. You know you’re in for a culinary treat when there’s crayfish tail on the starter menu… Local lamb is always a good option, but the seafood platter is equally outstanding. The dessert menu is small, proof that the mains are rather filling. For non-meat eaters, it might be best to phone ahead to see if it will be possible to have something prepared.
14 Main Road, Greyton, Western Cape.
Open for dinner, Monday to Sunday from 18h00.
