My First Pig

The word was that a herd of wild pigs were coming down from the Waiakea watershed above my friend, Haru Takamine’s, garden and digging up all of his plants, especially the sweet potatoes and tomatoes that grew so well in the dark soil of Hilo. Haru’s garden was his retirement hobby, and he was astonished by the amount of digging a herd of 10 pigs had done in his 50-foot garden.
