Originally formed in the smoke-ridden, activism-hungry student hub of the University of California, Santa Barbara, reggae giants Rebelution leave a lasting imprint and help define the genres of reggae, rock and dub. The current lineup—consisting of Eric Rachmany, Rory Carey, Marley D. Williams and Wesley Finley—recently released the band’s seventh studio album, In the Moment, on June 18, taking cues from the hurdles of the past year and the ways in which we experience time differently. The band’s highly anticipated return to the road kicks off on August 5.
With five consecutive albums hitting the number-one spot in the Top Reggae Albums chart, the band is inarguably a powerhouse in American reggae. They also had the biggest-selling reggae album for the entire year of 2014 and earned a much-deserved Grammy Award nomination three years later for Best Reggae Album.
