SUTTON AND INGRAM SET UP THE BATTLE

Three thrillers at Brands Hatch provided a popular win for Tom Oliphant in his WSR BMW, one for the Ciceley BMW of Adam Morgan and one for Tom Ingram in his Excelr8 Trade Price Cars Racing Hyundai.

They were the ones walking away with the headlines, but a plot was also being played out in their wake. Reigning championAsh Sutton put in three strong points-collecting drives in his Laser Tools Racing Infiniti to cement his position at the top of the standings, while Colin Turkington’s weekend went the other way in his WSR BMW.

The Northern Irishman simply couldn’t get a handle on the set-up of his rear-wheel-drive car and looked nothing more than a midfielder in Kent. It was a very strange sight.

Race one

The first surprise of the weekend came in qualifying when Dan Rowbottom topped the times. The Team Dynamics Honda Civic man narrowly pipped team-mate Gordon Shedden for his maiden prime slot, while Jake Hill’s MB Motorsport Ford Focus and the WSR BMW of Oliphant shared row two. The fully ballasted title leader Sutton lined up seventh in the Infiniti Q50.

In Brief
