Easing of Pandemic is Accelerating Club, Show Activities

The light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak, appears to be brightening, as these words are being crafted in the closing days of May. With the pandemic restrictions of our COVID-19 experience easing, coin club and show activities are slowly returning to a fair degree of normalcy. While I entered the month having yet to venture forth to any numismatic activities outside the state of Wisconsin, the next five weeks did find me hitting the road to enjoy a physical presence at a pair of local club meetings, along with a pair of local shows. Those ventures took me to Green Bay, Milwaukee, Madison and the Wausau areas.

The first and second weekends of May bracketed what proved to be a rather busy week on several fronts, albeit not numismatically. There was an 11 a.m. chiropractor appointment on Monday morning, followed by a late lunch at Subway. The day ended with a Lions Club meeting at the Iron Grille, the clubhouse restaurant at our Glacier Wood golf course, with about 30 in attendance. Following another lunch at Subway, this time an early one, Tuesday afternoon featured a couple ANA Zoom meetings: a 90-minute board meeting that got under way at noon, followed at 3 p.m. by an hour-long Fundraising Committee meeting.

Wednesday found me engaged with local activities, starting with about 90 minutes spent tending to some tasks at the Iola Historical Society (IHS), with lunch at JoJo’s Little Norway in the company of George Cuhaj and John Gunnell following. Early afternoon found me back at the IHS for a couple hours, overseeing the school’s National Honor Society volunteer crew as they shouldered some outdoor spring cleaning tasks undertaken as a community service, followed by three hours on a Lions
