KICK OFF: You played at the 2008 Bayhill Cup and from there, things just exploded for you. You were invited for trials at Lille, called up the Under-20 national team and eventually signed for Mamelodi Sundowns. How did you end up in Israel and how was that experience?
Dino Ndlovu: Walter [Mokoena], my agent at the time, took me there. But honestly speaking, there are external factors that I can’t go into detail about why I [did well there] and came back.
Israeli football is like, if you play there and don’t want to learn about culture or language, they will always try to leave you in the cold, even if you’re doing well. They always have this thing against you for not wanting to know more about the Jewish culture and language.
One of the reasons I came back is because I just couldn’t take it anymore after an incident.
What incident?
It was after we lost 3-1 to Maccabi Tel Aviv and that time I was dating a Jewish girl and it was her birthday the day of the game.
I went to the nightclub where she was hosting a party because I wanted to give her a present, and someone saw me in the club and took a picture. From there, everything went backwards because we lost the derby and now they see me
