A date with danger
Stepping out into the humid Auckland evening, Grace Millane watched as the city came alive.
It was a busy night in December 2018, and Grace, a British backpacker, was out on the eve of her 22nd birthday.
Dressed in a smart, knee-length black dress and clutching a small handbag, Grace crossed the road.
She’d been in New Zealand less than two weeks, on the second leg of a solo trip around the world.
Intelligent, adventurous and sociable, Grace had the world at her feet.
