GETTING THE RIGHT ADVICE

I’ve been involved in racing since the mid-90s, instructing since 1999, and I far from know it all. Every day something new or unexpected crops up and I feel that getting the right advice at trackday and club racing level is paramount to your safety and how you will progress as a rider.

There’s a whole host of experts online and the odd one kicking around at the track; some have real race and track experience while others will be getting their info second-hand, and by the time it’s been passed around a few times, the guidance could be wrong and potentially quite dangerous. So, to make your trackdays safer and more enjoyable, my advice is to work with service providers endorsed by No Limits Trackdays, because they have the right credentials, equipment and training, and will give advice to suit your level of experience, specification of bike and pace.

I’ll cover three main subjects and share my own experiences for each one; I can hopefully give examples of how it actually went wrong and the consequences. Like any new interest or hobby, it takes a while to find a good source of information and advice, but we all start somewhere, so it may as well be with the people associated with No Limits Trackdays, currently the biggest trackday organisation in the world.
