Brothers in arms
Not many riders establish a dynasty that thousands will remember. This year, we’ve witnessed the start of one with the Lawrence brothers.
Both Jett and Hunter have stood up when the chips were down and proved they have something special. The brothers faced immense challenges in the AMA Supercross Championship, from crashes that were out of their control to major injuries, but they were never defeated.
While we were focused on our boys, the Cooper Webb v Ken Roczen brain games were in full swing. And then there was the resurgence of Star Racing Yamaha pair Aaron Plessinger and Malcolm Stewart, plus GASGAS’s Justin Barcia, while a lacklustre overall performance from champion Eli Tomac caught us all off guard.
But back to the important stuff. Not since 2002, when a young Chad Reed left Europe to take on the Yanks, have we had riders quite so exciting to cheer about as the Lawrence boys. This is the story of their SX season.
