The Tankwa Karoo is synonymous with drought, dust, arid plains with sparse vegetation and heat. In a way, it’s this remoteness that makes the region so beautiful, and there could hardly be a better place for escaping from humanity. Now if only there was a lovely river somewhere that would provide relief from the heat…
The good news is that such a place does exist – on the western edge of the Tankwa.
Die Mond is truly an oasis in the desert, with the camp on the banks of the Grootrivier, a wide strip of water that carves through the dry landscape. The pitches, in the shade of large trees, are so close to the water that you could almost fish from your tent. And, just like a true oasis, Die
