Little White Lies

Lake Mungo

Blu-ray/DVD

Released 31 MAY

Although to this day little-known outside of the circles is one of the best examples in recent years of a film making a virtue of its limited means. Shot and structured in the style of a talking-heads documentary, it centres on a family recounting the mysterious disappearance and death of teenage girl Alice, as well as the many strange events that followed and preceded this tragedy. And so, few things that are outright scary are actually shown, and most of the film’s runtime is dedicated to the calm recollections of absolutely terrifying events from the past, delivered by actors we sometimes wish could be a little less good at their job for the sake of our nerves.
