For many owners, seeing their hard work spread over the glossy pages of this mag marks the pinnacle for its progress. Sure, some changes are inevitable; a project car is never done, right? But there has to be some significant surgery for us to consider a revisit for our readership.
While Kyle Wilinsky doesn’t possess a medical degree allowing him to slice and dice a live person, a panel of experts would be hard pressed to distinguish his MK3 in its current state to its previous life as a PVW page turner.
“I’ve owned this car for about 11 years now,” Kyle informs us. “This car was previously featured in the July 2016 issue, although looking at that issue and the car’s current state you would never know they have the same VIN.” Many of us would have been over the moon to own his MK3 in that condition - a bevy of genuine Euro parts, CCW wheels and a turbo 12v VR6, to mention just a few of the impressive bits.
Unfortunately, not all that glitters is gold and before long, the feature queen started to have some issues. “The car’s engine was starting to give me problems and the car had some paint issues that needed to be addressed,” laments Kyle. “So I decided to part the entire car out all the way down to the bare shell. I’ve always wanted to build a car from the ground up,” Kyle continues, “and I was left with the decision to fix the issues on my shell or buy something else.”
