What would you say if I told you there’s a wave that’ll hit a point and then break for 600 metres, giving the potential for rides that can last over a minute with a wind direction that lets you simply park your kite and ride?
What if I told you that the wave was empty and would only be shared by the people you were with? I’d probably have you sold with that alone, but what if I added the fact that by going and riding this wave you’d be helping support the preservation of the wildlife and environment where it was located?

Reusable containers, mugs, buying local, avoiding single-use plastics and overall sustainability are now well practiced for good reason. If you’re anything like me, news of the environmental impact that humans have can all be a bit overwhelming and depressing at times, leaving you wondering how you can actually help, to actually do more than pretending that you care by sharing a hashtag about sustainability. There is a long list of things you can do to move the needle, but I’m not here to preach about that. Instead, I’d like to share a bit of info on how someone did begin to make a difference and, in turn, offered up a way to take a kite trip with less of an impact. Obviously there’s no easy way to get around the impact of flying, but once on-location, your trip could actually do more good than just recharging your personal batteries.
