THE humble potato, the butt of countless jokes and erroneously blamed for weight gain, is to come into its own.

The servile tuber – aloo in Hindi or uralaikilangu in Tamil – is to be honoured next month in an event that could eclipse President Cyril Ramaphosa’s dreary State of the Nation Address (Sona).
