For better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health. So many of us have made vows to our loved ones, promising that, no matter what happens, we will always be there for them. In this past year, as so many people across the UK have fallen victim to coronavirus, those vows have never been more poignant.

One of the more high-profile cases is that of Kate Garraway’s husband, Derek Draper, 53. He is believed to be one of the UK’s longest surviving coronavirus inpatients after he was hospitalised with COVID-19 in March 2020. He has been left with a multitude of health issues,
