I never saw myself as a model builder. But then again, a couple of lockdowns can change a man… Deep into the second lockdown (or was it the third? I lost count) I was casually browsing the interweb for parts for my BMW R100/7 so I could busy myself in the garage while riding was not an option. Somewhere between the second and third glass of corner shop plonk, I landed on the Moto-bins website. And there it was. The R90 S engine model kit. A 1:2 build-your-own boxer engine with see-through casing, showing all the parts from the pistons to the gears moving inside. I had to have it. Then I saw the price, hesitated for a millisecond, downed another glass of red to give me courage, and just went ahead and bought it. What else am I going to spend money on in lockdown?
To be honest, I hadn’t really paid much attention to what I had bought apart from the model R90 S
