ANC and ‘Ngoko’ mentality: the great betrayal of our people

FRANK Chikane writes in his seminal account of the days leading to the recall of former president Thabo Mbeki, post his election defeat at the Polokwane conference, how many comrades wanted Mbeki dislodged from power – ngoko (now).

In his encounter at the events as they unfolded, Chikane noted: “Voices of reason… were drowned out by the angry voices of the night… in the end, the ngoko (now) chorus won the day.”
