THE EYES HAVE IT

It was 4:33 in the afternoon, in the middle of January 2017, and Greg Johnson was pretty sure he’d just gone blind.

Johnson, who had retired as a U.S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Officer in 2010, was working as a government civil servant. He had been assigned to work with a U.S. Special Operations unit in the southern Philippines, where terrorist organizations like the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and spinoff terrorist groups still operate today.
