LEXUS IS250
Nice & simple
► One of my regular customers recently traded in his aging Merc for a 2012 Lexus IS250C. Pleased with his new wheels he came along to see what I thought of his purchase. It’s a Lexus and so I was pretty confident that he was going to have a few miles of trouble-free motoring.
Whilst he looked on I opened the bonnet to have a glance at the working-end of the 2.5-litre engine. It was the first time that the new owner had seen the bonnet opened and his first words were “it’s nice and simple under there anyway”.
He was, of course, referring to what he could see which was not a lot. In fact the engine bay reminded me more of one of toy cars you can get where the bonnet opens.
The engine and its complex induction and injection systems are neatly hidden by a large plastic cover, as are the inner wings and the associated components. Once I had removed the engine cover, the owner agreed that the V6 engine and its workings were not quite so simple, but they were, at least, nice and clean.
