Alex Markham’s relationship with the Mk2 Escort rally car is akin to the one you or I might have with a pint of water 6 hours after a particularly salty Chinese takeaway: not quite the elixir of life, but pretty damn close. As to the source of this lifelong obsession with Boreham’s most successful Escort, that can be traced to his father, Paul Markham.

“My dad spent a portion of the mid 1970s rallying and even tackled a couple of RAC rallies, back when that meant a five-day, near non-stop slog around the whole of the country. You could say that rallying — and Group 4 rallying in particular — was in my blood from the very beginning.”
