Diehard Granada fans might have been aghast that their favourite saloon had morphed into a hatchback, but on the Mk3’s March 1985 launch the new Scorpio provided ample reassurance that Ford’s flagship was still a plush way to travel.

Traditionally, the Ghia had always been the pinnacle of the Granada line-up, but it now passed the executive express baton to the Scorpio.
