As one of Britain’s best-loved rugby league stars, who was hailed an “inspiration” by former RFL patron the Duke of Sussex, Rob Burrow has always prided himself on beating the odds.
Now, as he faces the biggest challenge of his life, battling motor neurone disease (MND), the father of three is adopting the same gritty attitude he showed during his extraordinary career – and is planning a trip to Buckingham Palace after being honoured with an MBE in the New Year Honours list.
