They may be marketed as healthy, but many store-bought foods aimed at toddlers may not be as they seem. A review of toddler-specific foods and milk drinks found only 10 per cent aligned with dietary guidelines. Many were highly processed, sweetened snack foods or readymade frozen meals. Toddlers need a range of textures and tastes to prepare them for a varied diet as they grow. The best toddler foods are therefore homemade meals made from fresh, minimally processed ingredients.
