Many moons ago, when I would busy myself by hanging around on the BASC stand at some show or other, it was possible to guess what people would want to ask. If the wind was in the right direction and we’d had a good breakfast, we would even know the answer. There was one question that I dreaded, though, and that was, “How can I get out and go shooting?”
This was a really tough one for my colleague and I, because it was invariably asked by just the sort of person who we felt ought to be out shooting but clearly wasn’t: enthusiastic, young, someone who had a wage and wanted to get into something they had always liked but had lacked
