The Mac mini is the third of the first wave of M1-based Apple products we’ve reviewed since they were announced last year, joining the M1 MacBook Air (see issue 316, p40) and the M1 MacBook Pro (see issue 316, p44) at the vanguard of Apple’s move away from Intel.

It follows a similar template. Aside from the radical architecture revamp, Apple has made few changes to its much-loved compact PC. From the outside, the M1 Mac mini looks exactly the same as the Intel-based model I reviewed over two years ago (see issue 292, p56); it’s inside where all the fireworks are happening.
