NO SUGAR COATING

Captivated as I look up from the winding dirt road of the Prince Alfred’s Pass below my feet, to the magnificent beauty of the forest, I fall to the ground in slow motion feeling my knee hit and my hands follow. I jump up feeling embarrassed as I can hear my supporters in the car behind me gasp for air. “I’m fine,” I mumble, trying not to cry. I remind myself that I am one badass tough cookie. This is the Knysna Extreme Triathlon, Africa’s toughest and most beautiful race. And my favourite to date.

The third edition of the race was held in November 2020, organised by one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet, Sean Sandiford, and his amazing support team of family and friends. It’s South Africa’s only extreme triathlon and is also a founding member of the global Extreme Triathlon Series.
