Lorraine is married to cameraman Steve Smith and is mother to Rosie, 26. She is a reassuring presence and grounded – despite George Clooney singing happy birthday to her via Zoom on her 61st birthday last year as she sat at home in her slippers!
She started as a newspaper reporter and was one of the first journalists at the scene of the Lockerbie bombing in 1988. She also covered the Dunblane school massacre in 1996. Wise, experienced, kind and fun, it’s no wonder we turn to her for comfort.
