ON MARCH 5 last year, South Africa had its first Covid-19 case, and life as we knew it had changed for the unforeseeable future.

Covid-19 is invisible but it has caused so much destruction, pain and devastation.

We have worked tirelessly on the front line to try to keep our patients, their families, our staff and doctors safe. As nurses, we have become our patients’ family because their own families are unable to spend time with them. Our role to care is more important now than ever before.
