Fairfax Club YN Explores AI Grading

An article titled “Grading Coins With Artificial Intelligence (AI),” diving into the past, present and future prospects for the realm, is presented in the Fall 2020 quarterly journal, The Virginia Numismatist, published by the Virginia Numismatic Association. The comprehensive and insightful 12-page presentation is authored by Jonas Denenberg, a high school freshman, who is an active member of the Fairfax Coin Club. The article incorporates a graphic demonstrating the application of Apple’s newest iPhone technology, Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR), and AI grading of a small pile of randomly assembled Barber halves.
