Many families are devastatingly affected by the newly recognised eating disorder called Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID).
ARFID is an eating disorder which causes those affected to become extremely fearful of new foods.
This means they have a very limited diet which may lead to significant weight loss, malnourishment, problems with physical development, and associated mental health problems.
Unlike some other eating disorders, ARFID has nothing to do with body image issues.
