Q I know everyone says that a back tension release is the 'ideal' for compound, but I'm finding it difficult to let go of the trigger. I still see a lot of elite archers using thumb releases. Sometime I'm feeling like a 'second-class archer'.

A In recent years, the hinge or back tension release aid has gained markedly in the number of elite compounders who favour its use. However, the thumb trigger still remains the most popular release aid, and significantly, some of the very top rated, both men and women, in World Archery competition, utilise this option.
