A MUNKTELLS STEAM ROLLER DISCOVERY - AT LAST

he remains of a Swedish-built Munktells steam roller - in form of just the boiler - has recently been found and this extremely important historical item has. Munktells No. 5015 was part of a batch of four rollers (Nos 5014-17) which were delivered to the Swedish National Railways Board in 1911. The firm of Munktells at Eskilstuna built only about three dozen steam rollers between 1906 and 1915. The last few of these which were known to have been in commercial service were scrapped in the 1950s, about ten years before road steam engines started to be preserved in the country.
