The Spice Girls had just split, Johnny Vaughn was making Denise van Outen look funny, and PlayStation was into its second wave of game releases. The year 2000 was peak PlayStation, and Spider-Man was one of the year’s best releases.

Even when you replay it today, with its roster of famous villains, 1970s TV-show theme song, and Stan Lee narration this Spider-Man game feels like a love letter to the comic book.
