When fans look back on 2020, they will recall a season that was headlined by the incredible achievements of Lewis Hamilton. The Briton stormed to yet another world title and drove a coach and horses through the record books in the process.
The standout facts are that the Mercedes man has equalled Michael Schumacher’s achievements in terms of world titles, and he has also claimed top spot for the most wins in grand prix history.
But beyond that, there were so many subplots that have made it a season to remember. There was the revamped calendar that introduced a host of new or returning venues, there were some new winners and there was controversy in the stewards’room and among the rulemakers.
We set our man Scott Mitchell the task of combing through the 2020 Formula 1 season to pick out his story lines of the year.

While it’s boring to label the world champion as the driver of the year it’s the magnitude of Lewis Hamilton’s achievements that tipped him over the edge this time.
