Overcoming stigma of Aids

NICOLAS Marks has been living with HIV for 14 years.

The 25-year-old’s world was turned upside down when he started experiencing excessive diarrhoea. He was only 11 years old at the time.

He was left in the care of his grandmother after his mother died of HIV in 2004 when he was only 9 years old. His excruciatingly long journey began when his grandmother decided to take him to a local clinic where he was tested for HIV. This changed his life forever.

Because of his age, the nurses did not disclose his status to him.
