CARAVAN OVENS

Q Hello, Why do caravans come with a fan-forced oven that only works on 240V power when the rest of the caravan is 12V? The frustration is it has 12V ignition for the gas jets.

We have put in a small inverter to adapt to the 240V, but why doesn’t the manufacture of the oven just make it 12V for the fan?

We have a Thetford Caprice MK3 Fan Forced Oven with Stove/Grill/Oven — gas and electric 646h-496w-493d.

Thanks, Maree Bowker

A Maree, The surprising answer to this is that Thetford advise that they are unable to source a suitable 12V fan due to the high temperatures of the oven. The 240V fan in the oven doesn't draw a lot of power but it will depend on how good the inverter is over
