Tapped harmonics can be used in a variety of styles, from hard rock lead guitar squeals, to jazzy chimes, to percussive acoustic harmonic slaps. The tapped harmonic technique is performed as a quick flick of the second finger of the picking hand onto the string. An accurately placed, momentary strike of the string both causes the string to vibrate as well as creating a chiming harmonic.
