SUTTON GETS BACK TO THE FRONT AT BRANDS

The traditional British Touring Car Championship showdown ingredients were in place ahead of Brands Hatch last weekend. Unpredictable weather, five drivers in with a chance and three shootouts to decide the destiny of the sought-after trophy made it a classic.

Torrid conditions on Sunday swung the title pendulum rigorously during the three races. Through it all cameAsh Sutton in his Laser Tools Racing Infiniti Q50. The car and the revamped team were only truly born at the start of 2020, but they defeated WSR BMW 330i M Sport driver and serial title winner Colin Turkington to the major glory.

The other title players had bit parts: Team Dynamics ace Dan Cammish took his Honda Civic Type R to a race one win, Tom Ingram banked three podiums in his Speedworks Motorsport Toyota Corolla and Motorbase Ford Focus battler Rory Butcher signed off with a race three win. But none of them, or Turkington, could do anything about the overjoyed Sutton as he marched to a second BTCC crown.
