Emily Adams Bode is in a car. “I’ve been running errands and the time just disappeared,” explains the designer as she answers our video call from Manhattan. She’s riding shotgun and members of her team are juggling fabric samples in the back. Outside her window, restaurant awnings and shop facades zip by, and the late afternoon sun bathes the car in a warm yellow light. It all feels very… on brand. The handmade eclecticism of her eponymous menswear label Bode (pronounced ‘Boh-dee’, as is her surname) suggests a designer who pays her suppliers and craftspeople personal visits.
