WHAT THE WORLD IS WATCHING

In July 2018, about 1.12bn people worldwide tuned in as France took on surprise package Croatia in a highly-entertaining World Cup Final. In total, over 3.5bn people–more than half the people on Earth–tuned in at various points over the course of the four-week long tournament. By contrast, the 2018 Super Bowl attracted a bit over 103m viewers–the lowest total since 2009–and the NBA finals that year averaged slightly over 17.5m viewers per game.
